Akkasi comes from the word Aks, meaning reflection in the Urdu language. Akkaasi is to imitate life and nature by reflecting it. I reflect the life and world that surrounds me through my art.
A New York based still life, street, architecture and fashion photographer, my images represent my perception of the world. It is often repetitive and predictable yet random and diverse. I frame these very qualities of the world to represent what I find uncommon in the common, the hidden in the obvious. My inspirations are the streets that we cross everyday, buildings that we pass by on our daily travels, the scenes of our daily lives which we ignore. My purpose is not to bring forth the obvious but to put the obvious in a way its never been seen before.
